January 18, 2012

So evidentally I just hit the 6 month mark. Wow that is crazy. I can't even believe how fast the time has gone. It scares me a little bit, to tell you the truth. But its all good. Things are pretty good here. We are kinda hurting for investigators right now and we have transfers on Monday, so I think that the goal at this point is to leave the area with a good foundation for the next Elders. I kinda have a feeling that I will be getting transferred since I've already been here for a good 4 months, but we'll see. I think that the highlight of this last week was the interviews with President Bowen. That dude is so cool. I love the crap out of him. I told him that I was feeling a little frustrated with myself because I have set such high expectations for myself, especially with the language and he gave me some really interesting advice. He told me to drop just enough of the anger that comes with the frustration so that I can have the Spirit to be with me, and then to take out the rest of the anger on my grammar book. So that was really cool advice and it really helps too. I find the studying to be really soothing and a lot more productive. And I received multiple compliments on the Spanish from nearly everyone in the ward. Some members told me that I speak better Spanish than some Elders who have been out for over a year. So that was really cool. So now we just have to start getting some people in the water.

I am trying not to hassle you too much about money, but I am curious
about your Sports Authority purchase.
I don't want to admit it, but I bought a Shake Weight. haha oh man. serious buyer's remorse right there. I'll have to get you back on that one.

Something funny that happened this week
.

3 good things about the week.
I can't really remember. I always freeze up right when I get the computer haha. I'm sure there were plenty of good things.

How is life with Elder S.?
Its alright, he is as stiff as a board, but I got him to loosen up quite a bit, so its actually pretty fun.

How were the contacts this week?
Lazy, unfortunately.

Are you feeling less tired? I had another thought about that. Make
sure you are eating enough. Maybe you need to take a daily vitamin.
I think I'm eating too much actually.

What kinds of things have you been cooking?
Eggs, over easy. I'm been doing a lot better with working out (thanks to the shake weight haha) so i'm starting to get semi-healthy.

I want to get you two a food card this week. Where is a place
convenient for you?
Anywhere, I'm probably going to get transferred on Monday so hopefully I'll go to a place that actually has real restaurants haha.

January 8, 2012

Well I can't think of too much to write this week. We are having a hard time getting people to go to church and its really hard to get anything going if they don't show up on Sunday. I guess the best news probably is the progression with the language. I have now set a goal that I am going to speak the best Spanish in the mission by the time I'm done, so now I am studying with all my might everyday. It is pretty fun to study the language actually and my favorite part of the day is the hour of language in the morning. I can't believe how hard I am studying haha. In all honestly, I think I had studied have as hard as I am right now back when I was in high school, I would have gotten 5.0s like it was nothing hahaha. So that is really interesting to see that change in me. I really love studying now haha. And wouldn't you know it, it is paying off, and the language is getting a lot better and easier. So now I just really want to apply what I am studying so hard to helping people in my little part of the vineyard. So things are slow right now, but they are going to pick up. I just know it.

Something funny that happened during the week?
We have been doing trick shots in the apartment with the Nerf hoop you gave me for Christmas. I have nailed a few bangers so that was pretty cool.

3 good things about the week?
1. Elder S. taught me how to cook a few different things which is cool. I am now a egg cooking machine.
2. Spanish is going a lot better. The fear of sounding stupid has now departed me which is really good. That was a big problem, but its starting to get better.
3. Had a little bit more success as far as amount of lessons go this week.

Did the elderly man you have been teaching commit to getting baptized?
It was a kind of a soft yes, so we'll have to work on him a little bit.

Other contacts this week?
Nothing noteworthy.

How did you find the time to write such a long letter on those awesome
note cards I sent you?
Amazing huh?

Did you do a better job staying within your food budget this month?
A little bit. I'm trying to.

Are you taking pictures?
A little bit ya.

Did you bear your testimony today?
I didn't actually. I should have.
